ARCHIE RICE (USA) – 10 year old American-bred by Arch (USA) out of Gold Bowl (USA). Before joining the yard he ran mainly on the flat, latterly on the All Weather and during his career of 55 flat races won 9 times. Since running in the Club colours, he has won and been placed but around Christmas time, he was not enjoying his work and went point to pointing to cheer him up. He won 2 points and was placed and is now back in training for the Club, finishing 4th at Newton Abbot on 1st July.
HUNTSMANS LADY (IRE) – a 6 year old mare by Shantou out of Falika (FR). Shantou is a successful and popular sire and Falika (FR) won on the flat and was placed over hurdles in France. Huntsmans Lady ran in four Point to Points in Ireland before coming over to England and then ran during the 2014/15 season for the Club. She had a problem and was given plenty of time off, returning to the course after 429 days at Newton Abbot this month where she ran an encouraging race for the future.
MONET MOOR – 7 year old home-bred mare by Morpeth out of Miracle Monarch (by Elegant Monarch). She is a late developing type who ran in just two point to points in the spring of 2015 – pulling up on her first ever visit to a racecourse in April and then winning a Maiden over 2 ½ miles by 2 lengths in May. She has had several runs for the Club over the winter and now has a handicap mark but is having a short break before running again in the autumn.
RAILWAY VIC (IRE) – 9 year old bay gelding by Old Vic. He is a maiden under Rules but was the leading Young Horse in the Devon & Cornwall Point to Point Area in 2013. He had some useful placed form in the winter/spring (21013/14) when running for the Club, but was plagued by occasional lameness during the summer of 2014. In 2015 he ran at Taunton in March, was 3rd at Newton Abbot in early May and ran well, although unplaced, at Newton Abbot in both August and September. He is entered to run at Uttoxeter on 5th July.
WITCHESINTUNE – 9 year old bay mare by Beat Hollow out of Music Park (IRE) is another horse to run for the Club during the summer. She has recently come to us after a break from racing for nearly a year through no fault of her own. She has only run a total of 15 times and has been placed 4 times over hurdles and has had one run in a chase. She won a point to point before starting her career for the Club. Although she did not take to the fences at Stratford and was a bit disappointing at Newton Abbot at the end of June, I’m still hopeful that she will give Club members a lot of fun over the coming months.
