Today we are off to Wadebridge (Wadebridge Royal Cornwall showground PL27 7JE), for our first visit there this season.
It should be an exciting day and a busy one, I run four horses including two maidens first time out.
We start in the Men’s, at 12.05 Ben will ride his own Jaboltiski. They know each other very well and I’m really hopeful of a good run as usual. It is a very competitive open but the horse looks and feels in good order.
Then we skip a race and run Missile Man in the Restricted at 1.15. He has come on a lot from his first run at Ottery, he looks better in his coat and seems to be feeling really well. I hope he runs a good race to repay the faith Chris has in him. I’m sure he will.
We then have another drinks and snacks break and onto the babies!
The first maiden is at 2.25 and we have Gorcombe’s Rascal, known as Damian at home. He is owned by Phil Meadon, he was in training last season but needed some time. He is very well and fit but will probably need to have a run to learn what it’s all about.
Our next runner is in the last at 3.00. Ask Launa Esme has been working well at home, she is a little more educated than Rascal, as she had a racecourse gallop in Ireland before she came to us last Summer. But still for both the maidens it is the beginning of a long and hopefully successful career and if the foundations are set now with their education it will stand them in good stead.
I hope all owners have a wonderful day please come to the lorry for snacks and hot drinks.
Wrap up warm and see you there!
