Gorcombe’s Rascal made a return trip across the bridge!
The going was very testing, it was sticky and holding, so we were very pleased with him finishing 3rd. He took his second outing very well, and has come home feeling proud of himself. I am so happy for the new Mr and Mrs Phill Meaden, Rascal has a very bright future and it will be exciting watching him progress.
More news on some old pointing friends – Silver Bear and Robin Longstride!
Silver Bear, owned by Suzi and Patrick Frost, and Robin Longstride, still owned by us, are progressing well with their re-training. Hadden has been working really hard with them, competing at several show jumping competitions and doing a lot of cross-country schooling. They are both very willing, genuine horses. Last weekend they both went to Bicton Arena to compete in Arena Eventing, which consists of a course of show jumps followed by a course of cross-country fences.
“Needle” (Robin) has got over his initial worry about the warm arena, which in his first few shows seemed to confuse him! Lots of horses cantering around in different directions a lot different to his previous life where everybody goes in the same direction, most of the time! He jumped really well, he had a couple down in the show jumping phase but jumped the cross country very well. He has huge scope and I think when the fences get a bit bigger he will be fine.
Bear was our little super-star. He jumped a fantastic double clear and finished 5th overall. It was wonderful, as Suzi and Patrick had come all the way down to support him. He sometimes doesn’t give the show jumps much height but he got it right on Sunday. Well done Hadden, good work! We look forward to the summer, they will be aiming at the Racehorses Re-Trained Series.
Best wishes to everyone and Happy New Year! Lots of racing and winners!!!
